How to Calculate Construction Timeline
To calculate the construction timeline, use the formula:
Timeline (weeks) = Total Workload ÷ (Daily Productivity × Number of Workers × Working Days per Week)
- Total Workload: The total amount of work (square feet or units).
- Daily Productivity: The average work completed by one worker in a day.
- Number of Workers: The total number of workers involved in the project.
- Working Days per Week: The number of days the team works in a week.
Example
You are managing a construction project to build 10,000 square feet of housing units. Each worker can complete 100 square feet daily. There are 15 workers available, and they work 6 days a week.
- Total Workload = 10,000 square feet
- Daily Productivity = 100 square feet
- Number of Workers = 15
- Working Days per Week = 6
Timeline (weeks) = 10,000 ÷ (100 × 15 × 6)
Timeline (weeks) = 10,000 ÷ 9,000
Timeline (weeks) ≈ 1.11 weeks
Result:
The project will take approximately 1.11 weeks (about 8 days) to complete.
