To calculate the number of bricks required:
- Determine the wall area:

This formula ensures precise results by factoring in mortar gaps.
Example:
You want to build a wall that is 20 feet long and 10 feet high. You are using bricks measuring 8 inches by 4 inches with a 0.5-inch mortar gap.
Calculation:
- Wall Area:
20 \, \text{ft} \times 10 \, \text{ft} = 200 \, \text{sq ft} - Effective Brick Area:
Brick length = 8 in + 0.5 in = 8.5 in
Brick height = 4 in + 0.5 in = 4.5 in
\text{Effective Brick Area} = \frac{8.5}{12} \times \frac{4.5}{12} = 0.2656 \, \text{sq ft} - Brick Count:
\frac{200}{0.2656} \approx 753 \, \text{bricks}
