How to Calculate Wallpaper Requirements
Estimating the amount of wallpaper needed involves understanding your wall dimensions and accounting for patterns, repeats, and cuts. Use the following formula:
Wallpaper Rolls Required = (Total Wall Area ÷ Roll Coverage Area)
Where:
- Total Wall Area = Wall Height × Wall Width (for each wall).
- Roll Coverage Area = Length of the roll × Width of the roll.
Example Calculation
You want to wallpaper a feature wall measuring 12 ft in width and 8 ft in height. The wallpaper roll dimensions are 33 ft (length) × 2 ft (width).
- Calculate the total wall area:
Wall Area = 12 ft × 8 ft = 96 sq ft - Calculate roll coverage area:
Roll Coverage Area = 33 ft × 2 ft = 66 sq ft - Determine the number of rolls:
Rolls Required = 96 ÷ 66 = 1.46 (Round up to 2 rolls).
You’ll need 2 rolls of wallpaper.
