Water Feature Calculator

L/min
hours
liters

How the Calculator Works

This calculator uses three key inputs to give you precise results:

  1. Basin Volume: The amount of water the feature’s reservoir or basin can hold.
  2. Flow Rate: The amount of water pumped through the feature per minute, often measured in liters or gallons per minute.
  3. Daily Running Time: The number of hours the water feature runs daily.

Formula Used:

\text{Total Water Needed} = \text{Basin Volume} + (\text{Flow Rate} \times \text{Running Time in Minutes})

Example Calculation

Imagine you’re installing a fountain with the following details:

  • Basin Volume: 200 liters
  • Flow Rate: 15 liters per minute
  • Running Time: 5 hours per day
  1. Calculate the daily circulation:
    15 \, \text{liters/min} \times 5 \, \text{hours} \times 60 \, \text{minutes/hour} = 4500 \, \text{liters}
  2. Add the basin volume:
    200 \, \text{liters} + 4500 \, \text{liters} = 4700 \, \text{liters}

Your water feature will require 4700 liters of water per day.
